Author Topic: Access to Quest3D Applications from any OS and any Browser  (Read 3513 times)

Maybe this is on your wish-list:  Make your Quest3D application accessible from any OS and any Browser.

This feasibility study uses a Quest3D application as a render source. User input originating from browsers is sent back to Quest3D. Uses WebSocket technology and custom channels.

The video shows up to four screens:  Quest3D application, local Internet Explorer, iPad 4 with Safari, Win 8.1 Netbook with Chrome. The iPad and Netbook connect to the server via Wi-Fi. User feedback originating from the notebook and iPad is processed.

Android with Chrome can be used too (not shown in the video). Current response time is not suitable for strong real-time requirements. The solution is scalable and suitable for worldwide access.

The screenshots are made from iPad and Android devices.

No restrictions, is the Server is set up accordingly. You may need individual Quest3D instances for each user.

So, if 100 people wants to run app from site, there will be launched 100 copies of app on Server?

One server side application would be enough, if you build your Quest3D to differentiate between clients.

Here is a down scaled screen recording of a simple scene: The client is located in Berlin, Germany, and the Amazon server in Ireland. My ADSL bandwidth is lower than 6 Mbit/s. Original recording size 1048x752, at 15 fps.

Mouse clicks alter the material.

The project is at an early stage and needs a sponsor to proceed.
