TCPclientText is a plug-in to support access to TCP based servers. Typical usage is ASCII based request/responce communication, structured with CSV, HTTP, or others.

This single channel provides bidirectional text data transfer, commands to connect/disconnect, and gives feddback about the connection state and socket errors. Debug information can be viewed and recorded both in the editor and in published installer applications. Multiple instances are supported.

This concise channel provides a more powerful substitute for the old SocketString channel family of 5 channels shipped with some Quest3D editions. It offers more control and delivers diagnostics, if needed.

A complementary plug-in named SocketServerText (renamed to TCPserverText in the future) was introduced here.

For more details and buying information see my web page quest3d.godbersen.eu. A sample application can be found on the forum here.

Have a look at a simple Technology Demo to get started. Connect to a TCP server and send an application generated text. Read the feedback from the server (in case of an echo server just the text you were sending).

TCP_EchoClientDemo.cgr expects an echo server on 127.0.0.1, port 1212. A simple, free tool to act as an TCP echo server is the standalone application Hercules.exe.

Insert the TCPclientText.dll (a trial version) found above into the Quest3D 4.3.2 channel directory before openening the cgr.
