Author Topic: Open Communication Access Solution (TUIO, OSC, UDP, TCP)  (Read 6377 times)

My set Open Communication Support custom channels now includes handling of OSC bundled messages and encoding of OSC messages. OSC takes care of marshalling tasks even across different operation systems and hardware architectures.

This allows you to
  • use ubiquitous IOS and Android devices as controller, including access to their sensors without programming
  • read TUIO enabled devices (reactIVIsion) and touch monitors (PQ Labs)
  • deploy Kinect skeleton recognition right now, distributed and multi-user
  • outsource specialized task to dedikated programs (Processing, EyesWeb, etc.)

See my webpages for more details, many videos and trial access.

The following picture shows a scenario with  iOS devices only being visible, but yet with a Quest3D engine. Apple iPhone and iPad tablet are used.

The task of marshalling and unmarshalling is split up between up to three different channels.

The following screenshot shows the unmarshalling of a TUIO package: The package arrives via UDP and is forwarded to the OSCpackageDecoder via a Buffer channel.  Now OSCpackageDecoder disassembles typically a set of OSCmessages and calls OSCMmessageDecoder multiple times. The children of OSCmessageDecoder make the TUIO content available for further processing in Quest3D.

Channels now available for 4.3.2 and 5.0. Trials (still 4.3.2) are provided on my website. Channels: OSCmessageEncoder, OSCmessageDecoder, OSCpackageDecoder.
