No, I need to compile it for 4.1.2 again. Will try to do this as soon as I have some spare time.

Well, my spare time seems to be, well, not much. BUT here it is: the heightmap channel for Quest 4.2.1

The example in the first post should still work. Let me know if there are any problems...

A proof of concept: Video / MediaTexture as heightmap source.

uses "Save render to texture in texture".  Quest3D 4.2.3
Attached cgr without video source Lake.wmv (to be found in Widows Vista sample Video directory).
Video-Heightmapped.exe  (5.4 MB), Video-Heightmapped.cgr  (Lake.wmv included, 3.9 MB)

Ha, this is so cool! At first I didn't see it too clearly but after moving the camera around, its pretty amazing. Really cool to see such uses with my channel Cheesy

By popular demand (and the lack of sparetime) I will give the sourcecode of this channel to the community. Free to modify and to use for anyone. It would be great if you send me a PM and put me in the credits if you use this channel or code in a project.

Small notes for those who want to compile it to the latest Quest3D version:
- You will have to check all the filepaths for the needed lib's (aren't that many)
- Change the filepaths of the dll target for both Debug and Release mode
- I believe a few things changed for compiling channels in Q3D 4.3 SDK. You will have to fix this on your own as I haven't done any channel development for the past year or so.

If you need to know something or just want to say hi, just PM me and I will see what I can do Smiley

You may also consider a HLSL based Heightmap channel published here.

problem with the hlsl heightmap is that you can't apply physics on it, or am I wrong?

Sorry to resume such an old thread, but I wanted to make some experiments. I tried to use the 4.3 version compiled by DarrenP as I'm using q3d v4.3.2 but it crashes when I drag the channel into the channel graph.
Same result with latest version 4.2.1 by Lukas.
Any suggestion? I'm using win7 64, I also placed the d3dx9_35.dll in system32 and syswow64 dirs.
